Many People think "Know Thyself" means to dive into all the falsehoods of your egoic personal identity to heal and fix all the perceived imperfections, to confront all the shadows/ imperfections created through childhood, parenting and the acceptance of negative ideas we have about ourselves.
It’s true that this will inevitably be part of each person’s process, but it is not the goal, nor will you ever "know thy true-self" because the personal self that emanates from the mind is always changing, and never stable.
To "Know Thyself" Is to realize that there is a much greater self beyond this personal identity or ego self, The big "I" beyond the little "i".
The little ‘i’ identifies with being imperfect, not good enough and always striving to become something or someone "better".
The little "i" lives within the limitations of polar opposites, such as good/bad, light/dark…anything that has a contrast or relativity, which is everything we believe in the ego mind. All of the characteristics of the ego mind are false illusions of who we believe ourselves to be, individually and collectively.
Beyond this ego mind is our TRUE SELF of perfection, of Divine-Nature that each of us were created from. The invisible I AM Presence that lives within you, and who you are one with when you come to "Know Thyself" as Pure Awareness, like the rest of Nature, and the rest of humanity.
"THE FATHER AND I ARE ONE" - (Father/Spirit, Mother/Matter)
The word "know" in ancient times was a reference to deep intimacy on every level. So, to "know" the Divine Self within you is to completely identify with that Self, and to disregard the outward ego-self made up by the mind.
It means to become perfectly attuned to the Divine Self, or to Pure Love itself; our Creator, the source of our DNA and being.
Most of us do not "know thyself" because as a collective, we are just starting to become aware of its existence.
Most of us have always thought that the Creator existed outside of us and is always watching us from out-there, somewhere. Realizing that our Creator lives inside of us and is us, puts a whole new perspective on life and even who we thought we were.
We are created in the Creator’s image and are therefore creators ourselves.
What does this mean?
We are the Image of our Creator, not an image projected from our mind...and certainly not the beliefs that seem to define (and limit) us.
Everything that we believe to be imperfect about ourselves is a false identity we have created by accepting the belief in imperfections.
All of our shortcomings or faults are illusions. They do not come from our Creator, our Creator is Love and therefore created us with Love and through Love, therefore, we are Love.
Since our egoic selves are made up of projections and forms created by the limited mind, we also want to project "form" onto our Creator, so we can somehow feel connected, without realizing we are already connected.
Our creator exists without form and therefore exists within all form. We like to give the Creator human attributes and personality traits, but this is not who the Creator is, and it's also not who we truly are.
Even calling the Creator "him" or "her", God or Goddess is projecting gender on something that is Pure Intelligent consciousness, that embodies both male and female consciousness that exist in perfect harmony.
Yes, this process by which we come to "know thyself" will take us through the labyrinth of our mind (thoughts, words, feelings that create false identities) with a new lens of perception, and we will observe all that is not in alignment with our True Being, as a child of Divine Love.
We will observe so many beliefs that are not congruent, all of them whether deemed as good or bad, are illusions of being. None of who you really are.
In that way you will be getting to "know" your ego-self better and this will serve the purpose of awareness of what needs transforming in order to be One with the Divine Nature.
One of my favorite decrees begins with this sentence:
"I AM the Light of the Heart, Shining in the darkness of Being, and changing ALL into the Golden treasury of the mind of Christ..."
- The Science of the Spoken Word, Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet.
Translation:
"I AM the light of the heart"
The Great I AM is the Divine Light of Love living and shining in your heart, within the perfect Space of Silence and Stillness of Being (darkness or void); which is Pure Existence w/o thought, w/o looking for something, or waiting for something to happen or appear. Just being in the formless void of nothingness, where breath is suspended and time stops. Relishing the peaceful bliss of a still mind and the great void of nothingness.
"...and changing all into the Golden Treasury of the mind of Christ"
When we are in the darkness of BEING is when the light of Christ will appear out of nowhere.
Thoughts, images and judgments of the mind will no longer be projecting ideas or concepts of what that might be.
Instead, with all this open space, the Light of Christ is free to permeate your consciousness with the fruits and abundance that comes from the golden treasury of the mInd of Christ light and love.
Dropping the identities and projections of our personal egoic-selves will allow us to know our True selves.
It doesn't mean that we are no living in this world, but we are not of this world. We know our true nature is immortal, indestructible, fearless, formless, stable, joyful, pure, unconditional love, all knowing, all powerful and unlimited being-ness.
To Know Thyself is to Know the Divine, To Know Thyself is to Love your True Self, The Divine Nature of Being.
Namaste
Love,
